William Raymond Jackson, 78, passed away on Saturday, January 25,2025 and will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Born in New York City on September 22, 1946 and raised in St. Louis, MO. Bill was the second son of Edith and L.E. Jackson. He graduated from Riverview Gardens High School in 1964. Bill attended the University of Missouri in Columbia and in St Louis earning a BS in business in 1968, and his CPA in 1980.
Bill married Sharon Kumbier, another Riverview Gardens graduate, in 1967. Together they built a wonderful life over their 57 years and raised their three children - Dean, Missy, and Doug. While living in St Charles MO Bill served as the congregation president for Good Shepherd United Church of Christ as well as coach of the men's softball team. A sense of fun was always there.
Bill didn't like school but loved the working world. His career settled in with McDonnell - Douglas, first with the aircraft company and later with the automation company. He welcomed opportunities to move into new positions, mentor, and teach staff his job before moving to another project. This diversity opened the way for a move to Texas in 1993 when Bill's company was sold to EDS.
While working agreed with Bill, retirement in 2006 agreed more. Interests in bowling, golf, the stock market, and bridge kept him busy. He read constantly and laughed that he didn't read books. Bill mentored and enjoyed talking about investments, giving advice when asked. He said yes to any activity with family and friends and delighted in his grandchildren. When not in Texas spending time in Orange Beach AL was his favorite place to be. Bill will be remembered for unwavering love for his family, humor, intellect and being unfailingly kind.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Laurin Jackson, and Edith Jackson. Bill is survived by his wife, Sharon of Plano TX; children William Dean Jackson of Hazelwood MO, Melissa Ruth Hutcherson and husband, Jim Hutcherson of Lake St Louis MO, Douglas Laurin Jackson and wife, Nicole Jackson of Sachse TX; grandchildren Amber and Lauren Hutcherson (19), Steele Jackson (11), Juliette Jackson (10), and Sloane (5)
