On May 4, 2026, Steve passed away after a courageous 20-month battle with Glioblastoma. Through every challenge, he faced his illness with remarkable strength, dignity, and determination while remaining surrounded by the love of family and friends who cherished him deeply.
Steve built a respected and successful career spanning the real estate, mortgage banking, and title insurance industries beginning in 1989. He most recently served as Executive Vice President at Texas Excel Title Insurance, LLC in Southlake, Texas, where he was admired for his leadership, professionalism, and the relationships he built throughout the years.
Outside of work, Steve found joy on the golf course. An avid golfer since the mid-1990s, he loved the game not only for the competition, but for the friendships and memories it created. Some of his proudest moments were spent cheering on his daughter during her golf tournaments while she attended Carroll High School in Southlake and later Southern Methodist University in Dallas. Though he enjoyed membership at many golf clubs over the years, Trophy Club County Club held a special place in his heart after moving to the area from Austin in 2019, where he was a proud member of the executive board and met on the course a wonderful group of playing partners who eventually became great friends.
Above all else, Steve was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He shared 37 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Renette Etlinger. He was an incredibly proud father to his daughter, Kalie M. Bixel, and son-in-law, David Chad Bixel, and his greatest joy in recent years was being “Poppi” to his two adored grandsons, David Matthew Bixel (7) and Joseph Thomas Bixel (4).
Steve is also survived by his siblings, Elena McKennon of Portland, Oregon, and Anthony Presti Jr. of Riverside, California. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mamie Presti Gioia, his father, Anthony Presti Sr. and his brother, Patrick Presti.
Steve will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him. His kindness, quiet strength, loyalty, and unwavering love for his family will forever remain in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
No services have been planned at this time, though a celebration of Steve’s life will be held in the coming months.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Glioblastoma Research Foundation in Steve’s honor.
