November 6, 1960 – June 8, 2026
Scott Castleberry lived a life defined by kindness, loyalty, laughter, and a profound sense of optimism. He passed away at home on June 6, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of friendship, compassion, and countless happy memories.
Scott never met a challenge he couldn't meet with optimism. He was the person who could find a silver lining on the cloudiest day and help others see it, too. His positive outlook, warm smile, and generous spirit made him a treasured friend to many and a beloved presence wherever he went.
Scott was a devoted husband to his wife of 38 years, Patti. Their partnership was built on love, laughter, and unwavering support.
Family gatherings were always brighter because Scott was there; he brought a unique warmth to his roles as a brother, brother-in-law, and uncle. He was the cherished "Funcle," always ready with a Dad joke, a story, an adventure, or simply a big hug. He was adored by his nieces and nephew, all of whom will carry forward the many lessons, stories, and joy he shared with them.
Scott dedicated 35 years of his professional life to TDIndustries, where he built lasting relationships and earned the respect of colleagues through his hard work, integrity, helpful attitude, and commitment.
For many years, Scott was active in online groups and conferences dedicated to HR technology professionals. The HRIS group held a special place in his heart. The friendships he formed there meant so much to him. In fact, the members of that group gave him the biggest and best surprise birthday party he ever had last year and one he never forgot.
It was through the HRIS community that Scott perfected his famous Willie Nelson persona. Every year, he would proudly put on his Willie bandana and signature braids, instantly becoming the star of the event. He embraced the role with enthusiasm, bringing laughter and energy wherever he went. For those who knew him, "Willie Scott" was a beloved tradition and a reminder of his fun-loving spirit.
One of Scott's greatest passions was helping dogs in need. For more than 35 years, he and Patti devoted countless hours to rescuing, fostering, and advocating for homeless dogs through several Dallas-area rescue organizations, including Carrollton Humane Society, DFW Labrador Retriever Rescue, Lone Star Labrador Rescue, and most recently, Take Me Home Pet Rescue. The lives of hundreds of dogs and the families who welcomed them home were forever changed because Scott cared.
Scott is survived by his loving wife, Patti Castleberry; his brother, Mark Castleberry, his nephews, Christopher and Aaron; his uncle, Larry Castleberry and his wife Darlene. He is also deeply missed by his extended family who loved him: Pamela and Tony Pianta, David and Lacey Kennedy, and Andrea and Ric Smith; as well as his beloved nieces, Brooke and Jordan, and cherished nephew, Graham, formidable Dad Joke competitor, all of whom he adored beyond measure.
Waiting to welcome Scott home were his parents, Ron and Carolynne Castleberry, whose reunion with their son was surely filled with joy.
While he will be deeply missed, those who loved him can honor his memory by sharing a laugh, helping a friend, rescuing an animal in need, and looking for the good in the world, just as Scott always did. His was a life well lived, well loved, and well remembered.
In lieu of flowers, Scott asked that donations in his memory may be made to Take Me Home Pet Rescue. https://tmhpr.com/scott-castleberry/
A celebration of Scott's life will be held at Lover's Lane United Methodist Church on July 11 at 2 pm. His final request was that this truly be a celebration! In that spirit, he requested NO black. NO suits, NO ties! Everyone who knew Scott know he loved Hawaiian shirts. So in keeping with his wishes, please wear a bright, colorful Hawaiian shirt or dress.
