Roberta Lee Markes

Roberta Markes passed away on the morning of October 27th after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s while a resident of Silverado Memory Care in Plano, Texas. Roberta is the daughter of R.L. Woodson and Melva (Hunts) Woodson and the wife of Virgil Markes. Roberta was born and raised in Oklahoma in and around the area of Enid. An active member of 4-H, Roberta raised 2 Grand Champion steers which paid her way through college at Oklahoma A&M University where she studied Home Economics. After college Roberta married Virgil Markes and moved to San Diego, California. She taught school at Sweetwater High School in Chula Vista, California for over 30 years. She and Virgil, who preceded her in death, had three children; Marla Slimko, Mark Markes and Mike Markes. She is survived by her three children, her daughter-in-law Carole Markes, two granddaughters, three step-granddaughters, and one great granddaughter.
