A memorial will be held on Sunday, October 25, 2026 Northwood Church, 4376 Tryon Rd. Longview, Tx 75605 @ 1:00pm
A reception will follow at the home of Susan Mohon after the memorial.
Don was born in Dallas, Tx to Abner Herschal (Jim) Mohon Jr. and Mildred Shaw Mohon on August 11, 1949. He was the youngest of three brothers, Rodney Herschal Mohon, the oldest, and Michael Leslie Mohon the middle, both deceased. He went to school in Dallas, Tx and graduated from Woodrow Wilson high school. He married his first wife, Cheryl Elane Pokladnik on August 23,1969 in Dallas, Tx. where they lived until her death on December 28, 1986, at age 36. He married again in 1989 to Susan Margaret Robison. They soon had a son, Robert Mitchell Mohon, on March 30, 1990. He was also a loving stepdad to her other two sons, Reagan and Morgan Karlos.
During Don’s first marriage, Cheree was diagnosed with cancer. He took care of her in any way possible throughout their marriage. He drove delivery trucks for Mrs. Baird’s, Sunbeam, Frito Lay and Keebler Cookies. From there he went to Electronic Data Centers Corp. moving heavy, high dollar copy equipment. A few years later he worked with M&T Distributing Co. doing chemical sales for a bit before starting their own company, C&D Chemical. They sold chemicals and did janitorial services. Don and Cheree did well with their business, but her health got increasingly worse. He lovingly cared for her until the very end.
After her early death in 1986, his grief let his business go. Then, in 1989, he met Susy and soon married again. They had a son, Mitchell, born with down syndrome. Don’s care giving nature kicked in again on high! No one could handle Mitchell like his dad! Don loved his son dearly!
He ran a delivery truck for Dolly Maddison for many years until a heart condition made him retire sometime around 2003. He and Susy divorced in 2003, but Don continued to care for her and Mitchell until the day he died.
He was a caregiver by nature and friend to all! After his retirement, he continued to cut yards and work as a handyman for friends and neighbors. He loved to dance, play cards, and pull the occasional quarter out from behind someone’s ear. He loved ferociously, never met a stranger and would have given his life for those he cared for! He may have had little wealth on this earth, but he left us with more love than money could buy! As we say goodbye to Robert Donnell Mohon, take heart! He has left this earth, holding God’s hand, in a blink of an eye. He has graduated to a higher ground and is probably playing poker with our Lord Jesus Christ, waiting for us to join him again one day in Heaven.
