Bob was born in Long Beach, California 1939. He and his mother soon moved to San Diego to welcome his father back from the war. He later joined the Boy Scouts, achieving the rank of Eagle Scout in 1953. He attended Helix High School, where he served as the Helix High School Choir President 1956-57, and graduated as co-valedictorian, class of 1957.
He enrolled at Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire, receiving his Bachelor of Arts in Government degree in 1961. Later that year, he began Officer Candidate School in Newport, Rhode Island, resulting in his being commissioned Ensign JG in the U.S. Navy. He spent the next 3 years aboard the USS Hancock (CVA-19). Upon release from active duty in January 1965, he enrolled at the University of Chicago School of Business and received his MBA degree in 1966. He spent the following two years with Bank of America in San Francisco.
In late 1968, he accepted a position with Gulf Oil Corporation in Houston, Texas, where he met the love of his life, whom he married in April of 1973. After a honeymoon in New Orleans, he was transferred to Gulf Oil Headquarters in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where their two children were born in 1975 and 1977. In 1979, he transferred to Gulf's European Headquarters in London, England, then transferred back to Texas in 1983, at which point he took an early retirement. In 1998, he and his wife moved to San Diego, California, where they spent the next twenty years. They moved back to Texas in 2018.

Bob is survived by his wife of fifty years, Ada, his daughter Lara and her husband Shannon, his son William, and two grandchildren.
As per Bob's request, no funeral or memorial service will be held, but his family invites donations to CurePSP in his honor.
