Raymond Oliver “Ray” Powers, age 88, passed away on February 23, 2025, in Allen, Texas. Born on August 1, 1936, in Dearborn, Michigan, Ray lived a life marked by dedication to his work, service to his country, and devotion to his family and faith. Ray served in the United States Army from 1960 to 1964 as a radio operator. Following his military service, he returned to Dearborn and began a long career with the City of Dearborn, eventually as a building inspector. His commitment to public service continued even after retirement in 2005 when he moved to Allen, Texas, and worked for the City of Allen in the Parks and Recreation Department until 2019. A devout Catholic, Ray was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church in Allen. His faith remained an important part of his life throughout the years. Ray was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Nina Caputo Powers; and his sisters Gwen Papp and Lois Reaume. He is lovingly remembered by his children; Raymond and Robin Powers; James Powers; and Jenni and Rick Leal. Ray also leaves behind eight cherished grandchildren: Elizabeth Sandmeyer, Alison Powers; James Powers, Kristen Powers, Gabriel Powers, Christian Powers, Ryan Leal, and Aleia Leal. His legacy continues through his great-grandchildren: Ronald Paul Sandmeyer IV and Harper Rae Sandmeyer. A Funeral Mass will be held on May 30, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at St. Kateri Tekakwitha Catholic Church, located at 16101 Rotunda Dr., Dearborn, Michigan 48120.
