Patricia Bush Sturgis

Patricia Bush Sturgis, age 89, of Dallas, Texas, passed away peacefully on August 1, 2026, surrounded by her family. She was born August 31, 1936, in Tilden, NE, and preceded in death by her parents, Dr. and Mrs. C.E. Bush of Norfolk, NE, and her younger brother, Dr. Tom Bush of Omaha.

Patty was a devoted wife to her late husband, Steve Sturgis, who passed away in 1997. She was also a dedicated mother to her three children: Robert C. Boronow (Jerene) of Dallas, TX; Thomas C. Boronow (Carmen) of The Woodlands, TX; and Amy B. Muscari (David) of Dallas, TX. Additionally, she was grandmother to two grandsons, Eric Boronow of The Woodlands, TX, and Christopher Boronow (Grace) of Kenmore, WA, who lovingly called her G.P., for “Grandma Patty.” She also adored her two great-grandchildren, Zephyra Boronow of The Woodlands, TX, and Mark Boronow of Kenmore, WA.

A successful local business executive, Patty worked in real estate sales for five decades in Jackson, MS, and Tuscaloosa, AL, where she enjoyed a distinguished professional reputation. She was dedicated to her industry and beloved by many clients over the years. True to form, many of her customers became some of her closest friends, drawn to her savvy business acumen and genuineness. Over the course of her decorated career, Patty worked with several firms, including Payne Realty, Duckworth-Morris, Coldwell Banker-Harrison Real Estate, and Realty South. In 2017, she retired and moved to Dallas to be closer to family.

Patty was an alumna of Stephens College in Columbia, MO, where she majored in music, and was a member of the Gamma Phi Beta sorority. She moved to a variety of cities across America while raising her family, living in Pelham, NY; Chicago; Houston; Jackson; and Tuscaloosa. Still, she was fiercely proud of her Midwestern roots.

She grew up in a close-knit, small-town community in a musically oriented family. An accomplished musician herself, Patty found comfort in classical favorites such as Bach, Beethoven, Chopin, and Rachmaninoff. She loved contemporary artists like Tony Bennett and Diana Krall, and enjoyed many popular Broadway musicals.

Patty was an avid sports fan who enjoyed cheering for the Nebraska Cornhuskers, Alabama Crimson Tide, and the Dallas Cowboys, watching games with family and friends. She was an avid golf fan and got to meet her favorite golfer, Jordan Spieth.

Patty grew up in the Methodist church, stayed connected to her Christian faith, and was active in a Bible study group for several years in Dallas.

The family would like to thank the staff at Signature Pointe, Patty’s home for the past 9 and a half years, as well as the staff at Amada Senior Care, Right at Home, and Bristol Hospice. A special thank you to her two loving caregivers, Donna Dismore and Pam Fields.

A Celebration of Life is scheduled for August 30 at 2 p.m. at Signature Pointe, 14655 Preston Road, Dallas, TX 75254, followed by a reception until 4 p.m. Instead of flowers, donations can

be made to the Dallas Area Parkinson’s Society (daps.org) and Highland Park United Methodist Church (hpumc.org).
