Nina Lynn (Covington) Mason

June 4, 1938 – July 11, 2026
Obituary of Nina Lynn (Covington) Mason

Nina Lynn Covington Mason entered the Kingdom of Heaven peacefully in her home in Plano, TX on July 11, 2026, under the care of Amity Hospice of Dallas, TX. She was surrounded by the prayers and loving presence of her family and friends, and the Holy Spirit as she moved from earth to glory. Diagnosed with ovarian cancer, she fought the progression of the disease for 3 years. She recently celebrated her 88th birthday in Broken Bow, OK with family sharing meals, laughs, and making special memories. She loved going to the beach, spending time with family, listening to music, working on puzzles, and playing Words with Friends on her iPad. She was mother to and survived by daughter, Toni Stephens (Plano), son, Larry Mason (Purdon). She was blessed with and survived by 2 grandchildren: Garin Mason and wife Kaleigh (Justin) and Zakary Barnes (Dallas) and 2 great grandchildren, Blake & Everett Mason (Justin). She was loved by her 2 surviving brothers: Kelly and Kirby Covington and their wives, and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, Zelma Mae Hughes and stepfather, A.L. Hughes, her father, Pete Covington, and her sister Dee Dee Belew. We grieve that she is absent from the body here on earth. We rejoice that she is present with Jesus. We miss her voice, her touch and her presence. We are thankful that she had a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, and we rejoice in hope knowing that she is pain free, whole and restored, and singing and dancing in heaven. Currently, we ask that in the days ahead, as you remember Nina, reach out to someone, share a kind word, lend a helping hand, or extend an act of kindness in her honor. A private burial of her cremains will take place in Alvord, TX at a later date. We wish to thank Amity Hospice for their kind care over the last 6 months.
