Nellie passed away at 3:48p.m., January 25, 2019 from complications due to Parkinson’s disease and a rare liver disease. She was accompanied at LifeCare Hospital of Plano by her husband of nearly 49 years, Dennis Moore, and relations from eastern Tennessee, Roy and Bette Hammett. Nellie was born June 27, 1950 in Kansas City, Missouri. She is succeeded by her husband Dennis, her brothers Ray Maupin, Clyde Maupin and Don Maupin. She was loved by ten nieces, seven nephews and a close cousin. She was preceded in death by her father Raymond Maupin and her mother Gonzalina Maupin. Nellie attended St. Mary’s Catholic High School and Chrisman High School in Independence Missouri. In high school, she dreamed of becoming a doctor or nurse. She worked as a medical transcriptionist after two years of study at Green River Community College in Auburn Washington. Prior to that, she worked for seventeen years at U.S Government agencies, including the EEOC, IRS and Social Security Administration. Nellie and her husband moved to north Texas in 1995 and have made it their home since.
Nellie had a special gift for overwhelming people with love and generosity. Her mother Gonzalina taught her to be moral, dignified and generous. She embodied the Christian ideal of loving others unconditionally and without judgment. She had an exceptional memory for birthdays, wedding days and other days important to everyone she knew. Along the way she became a surrogate mother for many of the young women in her life, providing them a model of intelligence, humor and patience. Nellie greatly loved her friends, dogs, making fudge and creating crafts. She leaves behind many people inspired to be more generous and sensitive to the needs of others. She will be missed and honored for the kind and loving soul she always was. May God receive this loving child and rejoin her with all who came to love her.
