Marilyn “Kay” Hazelbaker (Fox), 84, of Murphy, Texas peacefully departed this world on May 27, 2023, surrounded by her loving family.
Kay was an extraordinary woman—a devoted wife, a nurturing mother to three children, a cherished Nana to three grandchildren, and a beloved great-grandmother to seven precious great-grandchildren. Her love and influence extended far beyond her immediate family, touching the lives of countless others who were fortunate enough to know her.
Born December 14, 1938 to Howard and Bea Fox in Kansas City, Missouri. Kay graduated from Northeast High School, in Kansas City, where she was active in many clubs including, choir, cheerleading, and student council. It was there that she met and later married Robert “Bob” Hazelbaker in 1956. In 1962 they moved their family to Dallas and together, they built a life of service for others and enjoyed traveling, golf, baseball and being with their children and grandchildren until his passing in 2003. Kay poured love and affection onto her grandchildren, creating a haven of warmth and laughter at her homes in Lake Highlands, Richardson, and the Pinnacle Club at Cedar Creek Lake.
Kay expressed her creativity through her love of painting, photography and decorating. She found solace in tending to her beautiful flower-filled gardens, teaching others her crafts, enjoying a leisurely round of golf with her dear friends at the Pinnacle Club and spending time with her cherished dogs..
Kay is survived by her children Robbie Hazelbaker (Suzanne), Cristy Boozer (Terry), and Michael Hazelbaker (Sandy), her grandchildren Claire Meschkat (DJ), Brock Boozer (Whitney), Abbey Meyer (Tim), great grandchildren Piper Meschkat, Luke Meyer, Aurelia Meschkat, Ben Meyer, Audrey Boozer, Amber Meyer and Fenya Meschkat, and many dearly loved nephews and nieces.
She is preceded in death by her parents Howard and Bea Fox, husband Bob Hazelbaker of 47 years and dear friend Jim Hawk.
A celebration of her life will be held at Woodcreek Church in Richardson, Texas on Friday, June 30, 2023 at 2:00PM.
The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorials be made in her name to Scottish Rite for Children, 2222 Welborn Street, Dallas, TX 75219.
