

Lionell Joseph, age 76, of Texarkana, Texas, was born on February 13, 1950, in Hammond, Louisiana, to the late Arthur Joseph and Gladys Harrison. He peacefully departed this life on June 13, 2026, surrounded by his loving children.
Lionell was a proud graduate of Burgher High School in Independence, Louisiana, Class of 1968. He continued his education at Southern University in Baton Rouge, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture.
Following graduation, Lionell began a distinguished career with the United States Government as a Soil Scientist. His work took him across the country on various assignments. It was during an assignment in Texarkana that he met the love of his life, Lola, and decided to make the city his permanent home. He later joined International Paper Company, where he faithfully served until his retirement in 2005.
Lionell will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his strong work ethic, and the kindness and wisdom he shared with those around him. He treasured time spent with his loved ones and took great pride in the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved aunt, Nevorice; his sister, Yvonne Bryant; and his brother, Donald Joseph.
Those left to cherish his memory include his devoted wife, Lola Joseph; his daughter, Leslie (Johny) Gwin of Bangkok, Thailand; his son, Trenton (Leonor) Lewis of Plano, Texas; his grandchildren, McKenzie and Nicolas Gwin of Austin, Texas, and Carter Lewis of Plano, Texas; his sister, Sandra Bowman of Independence, Louisiana; his beloved niece, Lisa Bryant of Houston, Texas; and a host of other cherished relatives and friends.
