Klaus Engels, 82, a loving husband, father and friend, passed away in his home Monday, January 9, 2017. He was born in Hamburg, Germany on October 10, 1934. After graduating from Wilheim Gymnasium in 1953, he was awarded an apprenticeship with Adolfo Langeloh Exports, which paved the way for his career path. At 22 years old he left for La Paz, Bolivia on a cargo freighter and subsequently opened his first import export company. After spending 11 years in Bolivia, he then moved to the United States where he continued in international trade and opened Import Export Management Service, Inc. Klaus successfully built his business throughout the Americas, Europe and Asia while establishing many close friendships along the way. He had a great sense of humor, loved his friends and family and traveled to over 98 countries around the world. He was a mentor and inspiration to all those who knew him. Survivors include his wife, Constance Engels; his children, Yvonne-Monique Brizzolara, Klaus Engels Jr and wife Tammie, Jennifer Mazuelos and husband Duberly and Michelle Engels; grandchildren Madison, Sydney, Isabela and Ashton; and his brothers Dirk Engels and Curt Engels; as well as nieces, nephews, and many close friends around the world. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, January 28, 2017 at Preston Hollow Presbyterian Church, 9800 Preston Road, Dallas, TX 75230. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Preston Hollow Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund in Klaus' name.
