John Greathouse Jr., 78, of Allen, Texas, passed away peacefully at home July 18, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
John was a devoted father, brother, grandfather, uncle, and friend. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Kathy; his eldest son, Christian; his grandson, Justin; and his youngest brother, Carl. He is survived by his brother Dennis Greathouse of Rowlett, Texas; his daughter Noel Greathouse and her husband Carlton of Allen, Texas; his son Jason Greathouse and his wife Rebecca, also of Allen; along with nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and many dear friends whom he loved and considered family,
A hardworking man through and through, John never stopped giving of himself. He was the kind of man who always put others before himself – quietly, consistently, and without complaint. His own comfort always came second to the well-being of those he cared about. If someone he loved was in need, he showed up. If something needed doing, he handled it. That was just who he was.
But John wasn’t only strong and selfless- he was also sarcastic, quick-witted, and mischievously funny. He had a sharp sense of humor and a glint in his eye that let you know he was about to say something that would make you laugh- or shake your head- probably both. His sarcasm was a signature trait, delivered with perfect timing, and always with love.
John found joy not in material things or accolades, but in seeing the people he loved happy and safe. His greatest reward was knowing his family was okay. To know John was to know a man with the purest heart, the most stubborn attitude, and a spirit that brought laughter and light into every room.
His legacy lives on through the lives he touched, the family he cherished, and the values he lived by.
A private memorial will be held by the family at a later date.
