Janice was raised on her family's farm near Kirkland, Illinois, alongside her sister and brothers. She graduated from Hiawatha High School in 1964 and married the love of her life, Curtis Wilson Cole, on March 23, 1968.
While raising her family, Janice worked in office administration and medical billing. She was an active member of First United Methodist Church of Rockwall, where she faithfully participated in the church choir. She found joy in arts and crafts, ceramics, playing bridge, and cheering on her beloved Chicago Cubs.
Janice was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Wilson Cole, and her parents, Herman and Gladys Luxton.
She is survived by her son, Ken Cole and his wife, Toni Cole; her daughter, Julie Sears and husband, Brian Sears; her grandchildren, Amy Sieracki, Cole Wheeler, Lindsey Davis and her husband, Justin Davis, and Emily Cole; and her siblings, Sharon Molstad, Bob Luxton, and Jerry Luxton.
Janice treasured time spent with family and friends. She had a special gift for bringing people together, whether through family gatherings, reunions, vacations, cruises, or other travel adventures. The memories she created with those she loved will be cherished for generations.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Janice's life at a memorial service to be held at First United Methodist Church of Rockwall on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her honor to the American Cancer Society or First United Methodist Church of Rockwall.
"Those we love don't go away; they walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard, but always near, still loved, still missed, and forever dear."
