

Hardy was born in El Paso, Texas on July 14 to Air Force Major Roy Paul Barnes and Mecca Lavern (Joslin) Barnes. He was the third of their four sons. Hardy graduated high school from Clovis, New Mexico in 1966 and attended Eastern New Mexico State University until he was drafted into the Army, where he served at Kam Rahn Bay in Vietnam. Given an outstanding beginning at Johnny’s Sheet Metal in Clovis, Hardy and several friends moved to Dallas, Texas where he continued to install commercial HVAC for over 30 years. In between work at HVAC companies, Hardy could frequently be found working with Jamie New at Clovis Sign Service. In 1977, Hardy met Kim Wallace at a friend’s home in Richardson, Texas and in 1980, they were married in Littlefield, Texas.
Hardy is preceded in death by his daughter, Pamela Barnes; his brothers, Tom and Paul Barnes; and his parents.
Hardy is survived by his wife; son, Matthew and daughter-in-law, Summer of Farmers Branch, Tx; brother, Delard Barnes of Ruidoso, New Mexico; grandson, Blake; granddaughter, Summer Trinity and her partner, Richard Serrano, and a great grandson, Siah Serrano; and four-legged companion, Aces.
Hardy’s life will be remembered and celebrated on Sunday, January 18, 2026 beginning at 2:00p.m. at the home of Brannon and Emilee New located at 218 Cando Rd, Texico, New Mexico.
