

Harold Wilbert Roper of Allen, TX passed away peacefully on April 9, 2026 at the age of 86 years old. He was born on April 28, 1939 in Redwing, MN and the oldest son of the late Wilbert and Lorraine Roper of McAllen, TX. He is preceded in death by his parents, spouse Verneil Hoeft-Roper, sister Judy Servier, brother Harvey Roper. Harold is survived by sister Joyce Kuykendall of Seguin, TX and three children; his daughter Garnet Roper-Eldred-Odom-Coughlan of Wylie, TX, (spouse) Patrick Coughlan, grandsons Austin and Wesley Eldred; Son Wayne Roper of Midlothian, TX, (spouse) Jennifer, four grandsons Jeremy Roper, (spouse) Laurie and great grand-daughter Millie Roper, Evan Roper, Trent Roper, (spouse) Sydney and great grand son Jaxon Roper; Kyle Roper, (spouse) Kayleigh Roper; Son Dean Roper of Plano, TX and grandson Seth Roper.
Harold Roper graduated from McAllen Highschool in 1957 and joined the Air Force and served in Misawa, Japan. He married the love of his life Verneil Hoeft of Lake City, MN in 1961 and raised 3 children. He graduated from University of Texas Austin in 1966 with a math degree and earned his Masters from University of Texas at Dallas. He was employed by NASA and programmed the simulators for the Apollo programs and retired from Raytheon in Garland, TX. Harold enjoyed his Lutheran faith, genealogy, raising llamas and always sharing his humor and bringing smiles to everyone he met. His Memorial will be at the Heritage at Twin Creeks in Allen, TX on May 30,2026 at 3pm. He will be interred at the DFW National Cemetery to join his wife later this year.
