She was born to parents Amanda Christel Lisbeth Brandt and Ernst Erich Brandt, on 29 June 1943 in Danzig, Germany.
Doris met Herbert Douglas Bennett in 1963. They were married on July 3, 1965, in Pforzheim, Germany. Together they raised two children: Diana and Michael.
Doris held many different jobs over the span of her life but none so precious to her as raising her children.
Her final job prior to retirement was working as a Maintenance Supervisor for State of California transportation services.
After 10 years of service, she retired from California Transportation in 2005 and packed up and moved to McKinney, Texas. While Doris loved California, the weather was better for her and Herbert in Texas. Bonus is she would be with her son Michael and his wife Barbie and their son Niki.
Doris loved exercising and went to the gym (senior center she called it) at least 4 days a week where she made wonderful lasting friendships with Jerri, Barbara, and Lisa among just a few who loved her and spent time with her. She formed strong bonds with Niloo, Darush and Shey as well as Elke. Everywhere she went people just gravitated to her and loved her.
Doris loved traveling every chance she got but also loved coming back home to her beautiful house and garden in McKinney. She enjoyed her home and took great pride in it.
She loved Marco, the dog they rescued while visiting with Diana in California. Marco was their whole life while he was alive.
Doris will be greatly missed by her family:
