The second born son of Reverend and Mrs. Ennis and Elzora Freeman, Sr. went to be with the Lord in the early morning hours of Monday, October 18, 2021. Cecil Wayne Freeman, Sr. born in Lindale, TX, was a family man who exuded compassion and love for his wife, children, grandchildren, siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and community. As an Air Force veteran, loyalty and order were his hallmarks. Sundays would always find him parked in his favorite chair with a few cans of Coca Cola or Pepsi cheering for his beloved Dallas Cowboys. Always equipped with a joke, his favorite past times were fishing, politics, farming, jazz and 1080 AM KRLD. In the months preceding his death, you would find him enjoying an episode of Life Below Zero with his heart – Jessie Nell.
A man of superior intelligence, Cecil was a graduate of Emmett Scott High School in Tyler, TX and continued with his education studying Horticulture and Applied Engineering at Tyler Junior College. Although he came to faith in Jesus Christ as a child through the Colored Methodist Episcopal Church, his adult faith was demonstrated through his service as a member of the Deacon Board at the Church of the Living God, Tyler Tx. While not a man of many religious platitudes, the love of Jesus was demonstrated in numerous ways through his walk. His innumerable acts for Jesus performed in secret with a spirit of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, gentleness, faithfulness and self-control are surely being openly rewarded in Heaven.
Cecil leaves behind his beautiful wife of 50 years, Mrs. Jessie Nell Jackson Freeman (Kerens, TX), daughter NiCole Freeman Williams (Plano, TX), son Cecil Wayne Freeman, Jr. (Danielle Freeman); granddaughters Kennedy Tyler Williams, Jaida Nicole Freeman, grandson Preston Freeman; siblings Reverend Ennis Freeman, Sr. (Reba Gay Freeman), Mena Freeman, Bridgette Freeman, Richard Freeman and numerous sisters and brothers in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and beloved friends.
Cecil will be remembered for his willingness to lend a helping hand, share words of encouragement and the sometimes piercing but loving truth, as he saw it. We thank this this leader, hero, warrior, husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend, and uncle for the fun, love, laughter, provision and character that made a difference to those who had the pleasure of knowing him. His life meant so much to so many and he will be greatly missed.
