Catherine was born in San Bernardino, California on July 12, 1960 to parents Marion Lee Beasley and Alfred Belue. At the age of six months her family moved to Dallas, where she grew up and graduated from Bryan Adams High School in 1978. Catherine went on to graduate from the University of North Texas and began a career in television news in 1988 at KDFW-TV in Dallas/Fort Worth. She started as an intern and worked her way up, something almost never done in one of the largest markets in the US. She was a talented writer, manager and show producer that kept getting promoted to higher positions. When she retired in 2007, she was Supervising Producer, overseeing 7 daily newscasts.
In December of 1995, Catherine married Richard Ray. Together, Catherine and Richard traveled the world and threw themselves into mission work through their home church Prince of Peace of Lutheran - at home and abroad. She was a major force in the growth of Refuge of Hope Peru, serving for many years on its Board of Directors. After retirement she served on Church Council at Prince of Peace and her servant’s heart poured out to multiple ministries - here and abroad.
Catherine is survived by her husband Richard, her daughter Kristina Kulick, sons Nicholas Ray and Berhanu Arsse, by her sisters Darla Belue and Victoria Belue Schaefer. Ten grandchildren know her lovingly as “Omi.”
