Carl A. Taber passed away peacefully with family by his side in hospice care, Aug 15, in Plano Texas. He was 3 weeks shy of his 98th birthday. He was born in Toledo Ohio to Carl Taber Sr. and Elizabeth Coates Sept 5, 1920, the eldest of 6 children. He served 3 years in the Army during during WWII in the 7th medical corp, mostly in Europe. Carl wrote many letters home that were saved and cherished by his family. He returned home 1945 and married Frances Marten of Pemberville Ohio in 1946. He was fortunate enough to work for his best friend, Bob Colgan at Colgan electric company in Toledo Ohio as a project manager until retirement.
He enjoyed fishing in Lake Erie, Maumee River and fishing trips to Northern Michigan with his brother, nephews and friends. Carl loved playing golf, and even made 3 holes in one. He enjoyed playing all types of cards, especially Bridge and had a regular poker game once a week with childhood friends and his brother “lefty” for over 50 yrs.
Carl and Frances were members of Holy Trinity Lutheran church until they moved to Plano Texas in 2010 to be closer to family. He enjoyed every Sunday at his daughter Sue and son in law Frank’s home surrounded by his children, grandchildren and great grand children.
He is preceded in death by his parents and all siblings. Margie Oberhue, Robert Taber, Rita Noser, Luella Donahue and Patrica Basich. Survived by wife of 72 years Frances, daughter Sherida Fisher of Richardson Texas, daughter Sue Schmidt (Frank) of Plano Texas, son Douglas (Bozena) of Hollywood Florida, Brian (Rachel) of El Paso Texas. Grandchildren, Jamy, Jennifer, Dean, Darian, Hayley, Miranda, Lana, Chelsea, Tamara and Brian Jr.
Also 24 great grand children and 4 great great grandchildren. Plus numerous nieces and nephews. Carl often said in his later years, “It has been a great life, and I am thankful for all my blessings”. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed. We trust we will be with him again in Heaven.
