In 1960, after graduating from England High School, he joined the United States Air Force in the Strategic Air Command. He proudly served his country on key bases as part of the B-52 unit during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged in 1964. Bob would use the GI Bill to attend and graduate from DeVry Institute of Technology in 1969 and soon participated in working for many of the large technology companies that shaped our modern world, spanning sectors including radio, television, semiconductor manufacturing, and telecommunications.
Bob's hobbies included photography and flying. After receiving his pilot's license in 1981, Bob began restoring his Cessna 172. During the restoration of his plane, Bob developed several hobbies, including painting, aircraft engine repair, navigation systems design, computer systems design, and development. Bob combined his electronics career and passion for teaching, so he returned to DeVry to passionately teach students electrical engineering for many years. In September 1992, Bob married Faye Campbell in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was a member of Twin Creeks Church of Christ in Allen, Texas.
Bob is survived by his loving wife, Faye Lemons of Plano, Texas; son, Dan Lemons and wife Tania of Collinsville, Texas; daughter, Renee McCloud of Garland, Texas; brother, Eddie Lemons and wife Edie of Morrilton, Arkansas; sister, Doris Griffin of Edwardsville, Illinois; grandson, Evan Lemons of Aubrey, Texas; granddaughter Ashley Bourne and husband Dylan of Natchitoches, Louisiana; grandson Stoney McCloud and wife Sydney of Marshall, Texas and numerous great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
