Benjamine Dyches Slater

Benjamine Dyches Slater "Gentle Ben" passed away on Sunday, September 11, 2016 in Irving, TX. He was 80 years old. Ben was born April 23, 1936 in Jacksonville, FL to Eleanor and Jack Slater. He proudly served his nation for 3 years in Germany before joining Allstate Insurance Company where he worked for 30+ years. Ben was a long time member of the Elks Club in Pensacola Beach, FL. and the Gulf Breeze Presbyterian Church. Ben enjoyed watching NASCAR, playing golf and spending quality time with his family and friends. Big Ben was one man who always made everyone around him feel loved and treated everyone like family. He will be lovingly remembered for his beautiful blue eyes and loving soul. Ben is survived by his wife, Debbie Slater; son, Ben Jr., step daughter, Tammy Henderson; granddaughter, Sam Slater-Eddins; grandson, Kyle Slater; great-grandson, Lil' Wil; brother, Jay Slater and wife Claudie; numerous nieces and nephews, and many other dear family members and friends. A celebration of Ben's life is planned for a future date.
