

Born in Canton, Ohio, on December 3rd, 1958, Tom attended GlenOak High School. Affectionately known as "Tom" by family and friends, he dedicated much of his career to the culinary profession, working as a chef at Congress Lake, Ristorante Capaldi, Brookside, Walsh University, Antonio's Pizzeria, and several other local establishments.
He also enjoyed a successful seven-year career as a delivery sales representative for Schwan's Home Delivery Service, where he earned the prestigious President's Club Award in 1996.
Tom enjoyed an active life and found great pleasure in playing tennis, roller skating, swimming, painting, and pickleball.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Dorthy (née Plottner) Brookins; his brother, David F. Jordan; and his sister, Elizabeth A. Brookins.
Tom is lovingly remembered by his wife, Patricia A. (Gatto) Brookins; his children, Jamie R. (Michael Anderson) Wolford, Jacqueline A. (Daniel) Sarver, and Austin T. Brookins; his cherished grandchildren, Lilliana, Dylan, Owen, Luke, Gavin, and Claire; his sisters, Victoria L. McGuier, Janice R. Clay, and Julia K. (David) Ost; along with many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the Cleveland Clinic Medical ICU and Hospice teams for the exceptional care and compassion they provided during Tom's final days. They also wish to express their sincere appreciation to Tom's sisters, Vicki and Jan, and his daughters, Jamie and Jackie, for being by his side during his final hours.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Tom's life at a memorial service on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at Compassion Church, 1920 Schneider St. NE, Canton, OH 44721. Visitation with the family will begin at 11:00 a.m.
