Sylvia M. Schweitzer, age 86, of Parma, Ohio went home to be with the Lord on Thursday September 5, 2024. She was born May 22, 1938 in Corinth, NY and was the daughter of the late Lowell Atwell and Florence Allen Atwell Bergman.
Sylvia graduated from Schroon Lake Central School, where she was an athlete, a cheerleader and played in the band. She attended Albany Business College, graduated from Word of Life Bible Institute, studied piano pedagogy at Princeton University, and was trained in nouthetic counseling.
She was primarily a homemaker during the childrearing years and served her family with passion and purpose. She was married and served the Lord faithfully with her husband of 59 years, Douglas A Schweitzer Sr. She also worked as an executive secretary, teacher’s aide, and taught piano from her home for over 30 years. All who knew her observed her passion for studying the Bible, as well as counseling and mentoring women and couples. She also faithfully volunteered with Crisis Pregnancy Center.
She was an energetic lady that was always on the move and looking for the next task to accomplish. She enjoyed music, sewing, knitting, making cards, puzzles, tea parties, sports, swimming, water skiing, dogs and cats, but had a special affinity for Siamese cats.
