

Roger L. Murray, age 78, passed away peacefully on June 21, 2026, in Hudson, Ohio. Born on December 31, 1947, in Cleveland, Ohio, Roger lived a life marked by kindness, honor, and devotion to his family and community.
A true gentleman with a soft-spoken demeanor and an honest heart, Roger was deeply committed to his family. A beloved husband of 56 years to Marie (nee Harris), together they built a life centered around love and togetherness. He was a proud father to Stacy Zgonc (husband John) and Leeanne Aleric and a devoted grandfather to Meghan, Kaitlin, and Amelia. Roger cherished every moment spent with his family and found immense joy in their company.
Roger was preceded by his parents, Edward and Vivian Murray, as well as his brothers James, Edward and Richard, and his mother and Father-in-Law Amelia and Russell Harris. Their memories remained close to his heart throughout his life.
Roger graduated from Euclid High School and following he proudly served his country as an MP in the United States Air Force for 3 years. He then began his career as a Police Officer for the City of Cleveland followed by the City of Mayfield Heights for 23 years as a patrolman, Sergeant and Detective Sergeant. Upon his retirement from the department, he worked in Corporate Security for USBank. All of which exemplified his dedication to duty, and his steadfast character.
In retirement, he spent 15 wonderful years living in Ocala, Florida where he loved playing softball, traveling with Marie, and pursuing a new passion—following their racehorse. A devoted Cleveland sports fan, Roger especially loved rooting for the Guardians.
Above all else, Roger will be remembered as a kindhearted family man who lived with integrity and grace. His gentle spirit touched the lives of all who knew him. May Roger’s memory bring comfort to those who loved him.
A Memorial Service with Military Honors will be held on July 30, 2026, at 12:45 PM at Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Road, Seville, Ohio 44273. A Celebration of Life will follow from 3:30 PM to 6:30 PM at Walden Country Club (The Bogey Bar), 585 Country Club Lane, Aurora, Ohio 44202.
