Robert "Bob" Edward Neer

Born on September 22, 1934, in Cleveland, Ohio, Bob was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He graduated from Brush High School in Lyndhurst, Ohio, in 1952 and earned a degree in Traffic Logistics from Kent State University in 1961.

For the past 36 years, Bob called Aurora home, where he was known and loved by neighbors and friends alike. He was known for his sense of humor, friendly nature, warm spirit, and the unmistakable twinkle in his eye. Bob had a way of making everyone feel welcome. He cherished friendships and maintained many of them for decades, creating a family of friends wherever he went. His generosity and genuine interest in others left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

Bob proudly served in the United States Navy from 1953 to 1957 aboard the USS Saufley. Following his experience in the Navy and in college, he built a career with Ford Motor Company, taking early retirement in 1991. Never one to stay idle, he then spent 18 years driving a school bus for the Solon City Schools. Bob loved interacting with his young passengers, entertaining them with magic tricks and challenging them to learn the alphabet backwards.

Bob was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and the Odd Fellows. He embraced life with enthusiasm and adventure, enjoying golf, whitewater rafting, walking, hiking, ping pong, and playing the piano. He was also a host parent for American Field Service student exchanges, opening his home and heart to young people from around the world. Bob loved all his Cleveland sports teams, especially the Browns.

Bob is survived by his beloved wife, Linda Neer; his children, Jeff Neer, Lori Vella and Scott Neer; his stepson; Walt Morris, his cherished grandchildren, Kimberly, Justin, Stephanie, and Abbie; and his treasured great-grandchildren, River and Mylo.

The family extends its heartfelt thanks to the Cleveland Clinic, the Wade Park Veteran’s Hospital, Cornerstone Caregiving and Crossroads Hospice for exceptional care, compassion and support.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Aurora City Schools Special Education Department at 102 E. Garfield Rd. in Aurora, OH, 44202 (note Bob Neer in memo line).

Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service at The Chapel at Tinkers Creek, 9709 Page Road, Streetsboro, Ohio, 44241 on August 22nd, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. A luncheon will immediately follow the service, and all are invited to attend.
