Robert Scott Jones, Jr. passed away on September 6, 2024, at the age of 80. Bob was married to his wife Marsha for nearly 50 years and had two daughters, Lindsey and Allison Jones. He was the devoted grandfather of Alex Ferenczy-Jones; brother of Ilene (Ed) Mustar and Scott Jones; loving uncle and great-uncle of many, and friend to all. He was preceded in death by his parents, Blanche and Robert Jones.
Bob cherished his role as a popular math teacher at Collinwood High School for many years, after which he became the math supervisor for Cleveland schools before finishing his career as a professor at Cleveland State. His love for math extended beyond the classroom, as he happily spent many hours helping his daughters, neighbors, and friends with math homework over the years.
All Bob wanted in life was for his family and friends to be happy and cared for. He loved teaching, gardening, the Cleveland Indians, baking, cooking, theater, and going for long runs. The birth of his grandchild, Alex, brought out the child in him as they instantly became best friends. We will never forget Bob’s pies, his love for filling the house with flowers, his signature mustache and ponytail, and his never-ending selflessness and love for everybody.
Bob’s family will receive friends at our Celebration of Bob on Sunday, September 22 between 12 and 4 pm at the Mayfield Heights Community Center at 6080 Marsol Road, Mayfield Heights, OH 44124. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Bob’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association or donating your time or resources to a local school district in his honor.
