Jim was born July 25, 1934 to John and Adeline Mangino DiTallo in Niles, Ohio, where he grew up. He graduated from Niles McKinley High School in 1952 and was a three-year letterman in football. After graduating, Jim worked for Herr Equipment and attended Youngstown College.
On July 7, 1956, Jim married the former Faith Lawrence at St. Cyril and Methodius Church in Warren, Ohio. The couple resided in Niles and Warren before building a home on Glen Oaks Drive in Howland with their two children, David and Tricia. The family moved to Aquadale Drive in Boardman, Ohio in 1971, where Jim remained until his death.
Jim held several sales positions in the manufacturing and rolling mill equipment business, culminating in Vice President of Sales for Herr-Voss Corporation, from which he retired in 1999. He enjoyed playing golf with his good friends the late William (“Billy”) Orlando, James DeBartolo, and Bob Borda. With the assistance of his children, he was able to remain in his home and maintain his independence.
In addition to his parents and wife, Jim was preceded in death by his siblings Joseph (“Duke”), Mary Lou, and Regina.
In lieu of flowers, David and Tricia suggest a memorial contribution in their father’s name to the Niles Athletic Department, 616 Dragon Drive, Niles, Ohio, 44446, Attn: Mr. Marc Fritz.
Services will be announced at a future date.
