On Thursday, April 20, we lost our beloved Kathleen (Kate) E. Moss. After a courageous battle with breast cancer, Kate passed peacefully at Hospice House Medina with daughter and granddaughter holding her hands. She was 76 years old.
Kate is survived by William Moss of Sagamore Hills, OH, loving husband of 57 years; children, Kimberly Moss, Pittsburgh, PA and David Moss, Broadview Heights, OH; grandchildren Lauren and Jonathan Bugara, Strongsville, OH, Sophia Moss, Broadview Heights, OH; brother-in-law Don Moss (Barbara Moss), sister-in-laws Judy (Dave) Zwolinski, Susan Moss, Marilyn (Dan) Thayer and many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Mary and Thomas Collett, Claridon, OH, in-laws Margaret and Donald Moss, Claridon, OH and sister-in-law Linda Dingman, Burton, OH and brother-in-law James Moss, Burton, OH.
Kate was born on May 5, 1946 in Chardon, OH. She graduated from Burton High School in 1964. Married William in September of 1965 and they raised their 2 children in Geauga County. Kate completed her Associate's Degree in Nursing from Lakeland Community College in 1974 and ambitiously achieved her Bachelor's Degree from Kent State University in 1988.
Kate was a valued member of the nursing staff at Geauga Community Hospital, Menomonee Falls Memorial Hospital, and Marymount Hospital. We admired her 30 year commitment to her career and patients. Volunteer work included Greater Milwaukee Farmer's Market Association, Cuyahoga Valley National Park and The Cornerstone of Hope.
We were influenced by Kate's love of animals; she donated regularly to local animal shelters and rescue organizations. Her beloved dog, Zoey, helped her through the difficult days and will surely miss her daily walks. Kate was a lover of seasonal flowers, orchids and other houseplants; she was known for her green thumb. We were inspired by her creative skill for decorating. She enjoyed baking and we felt her love with every batch of her delicious cookies!
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, May 21, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Barrington Country Club, 350 North Aurora Road, Aurora. Please RSVP for the celebration of life to her daughter Kimberly via email or text/call. (412-580-3344 or [email protected])
