Devin Lee Thorne, 68, of Lorain, OH, passed away peacefully on February 13, 2025, surrounded by love, laughter, his favorite music and the family he cherished. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother, and friend, Devin’s warmth, wisdom, and gentle spirit touched all who knew him.
Born on September 4, 1956, Devin found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He grew up in Lorain and Amherst, graduating from Marion L. Steele High School in 1975. After graduation, he ventured west, where he embraced the breathtaking landscapes of Colorado and Washington. His love for the outdoors was undeniable, and his family holds dear the countless memories of hiking, fishing, and camping trips shared with him.
Devin was the embodiment of kindness and quiet strength—a protector, a guide, and a steady presence. His wisdom and life lessons will continue to resonate with those he leaves behind. More than anything, Devin loved his family. Whether offering a kind word, a helping hand, or a story that brought a smile, he was always there. He was the sunshine in his daughter’s life, a role model to his loved ones, and a cherished friend to many.
He is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Dawn (née McArthur), and his beloved fur babies, Sophia and Mia. He will be deeply missed by his children: Amanda (Josh) Hanson of Lebanon, MO; Kellie (Tom) Schiren of Jamestown, TN; Jaimmie (Jim) Bearden of Vermilion, OH; and Jim Osko of Amherst, OH. Devin was a proud grandfather to Dylan Strong, Chrissy Penny, Caleb Osko, Breeanna Osko, Kyle (Haley) Wegener, Aiden Hanson, Keira Osko, Gavin Hanson, and Colton Osko. He is also survived by his siblings Dennis Thorne of Colorado, Dean Thorne of Ohio, and Denia (Jerry) Gaspar of Ohio, along with many cherished nieces, nephews, and close friends.
Devin was preceded in death by his parents, John and Lucille Thorne of Amherst, OH.
A celebration of Devin’s life will be held at a later date. His family finds comfort in knowing that his spirit will live on in the places he loved and the hearts of those who knew him.
