Born September 11th, 1956, Darlene Chrest-Wagner passed peacefully on 21 January 2025, surrounded by her intimate family. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Mike Wagner of Satellite Beach Florida, Mother Rose, Father Ted, Brother Richard, Step-Father Dick. She leaves behind her daughter, Yvonne, Son-in-law Julian, Son Phillip, Daughter-in-law Kathryn, Grandsons James, George, August, and Granddaughter Elizabeth. Her Brothers David Chrest (Elsie) of Virginia and Dale Chrest of Ravenna, and half-brother Bill (Nancy) Martin of Wooster miss her dearly. She passed in peace with her daughter and son holding her hands and her treasured grandchildren nearby. Several prayers and Hail Mary’s were lifted.
Darlene attended Waterloo High School and graduated in 1975. She loved the beach, swimming with dolphins, and receiving updates and news from her family—especially the Grandchildren who attend St. Andrew’s Catholic School in Columbus. She was a volunteer for the Red Cross, the 1-145 Armor Regiment Soldier and Family Readiness Group, and the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. She enjoyed most, however, volunteering her time and talents at the Brevard County Zoo in Florida before moving back to Ohio. Darlene was an avid crafter—making baskets and gifts for friends and family. Darlene was a pseudo-Grandmother to Margaret, Mayce, Mahaylah, and Jackson Proctor who visited frequently.
Yvonne and Phillip are planning a remembrance of life and gathering of friends on 26 January 2025 at the Acker-Moore Memorial American Legion Post (the backroom: 3733 Fishcreek Road) from 1-3pm. To honor Darlene’s wishes, there will not be a formal memorial service, and her ashes will be spread on the beaches that she loved.
