Clifford John Helyer, age 71, died May 16, 2023. Born in Cleveland, Ohio August 26, 1951, Cliff attended Garfield Heights High School, class of 69. He was then drafted during the Vietnam War but served stateside as a medic until his honorable discharge in 1973.
Cliff attended Cuyahoga Community College and obtained his Associate Degree as a certified Physician's Assistant. He furthered his education and also became certified as a Surgical Assistant. He had a career he loved for 25 years as a PA-C working for the Ohio Permanent Medical Group (Kaiser). Cliff was a quiet but friendly man who enjoyed building things, reading, politics and history. He loved playing with his golden retriever, taking walks in the parks, ocean vacations, camping and building campfires. He loved watching the stars, summer storms, grilling outside, cutting the grass and snow blowing his driveway.
He enjoyed teaching little children about the wonders of the world. But most of all Cliff loved music and knew all the rock bands of the 60's, 70's and 80's. He had Multiple Sclerosis for 37 years, but that never stopped him from living a full life.
He is survived by his wife and best friend of 46 years Kathy, son Scott Helyer (Brandi), daughter Kelly Dumas (Dominic) and 4 grandchildren, Charli, Weston, Scarlett and Adalyn.
He was preceeded in this world by his father, John Helyer and mother, Dorothy.
There will be no services per Cliff's request.
