Charles William Culberson (Chuck) of Avon Lake, Ohio passed away peacefully in his sleep following a short illness on Thursday, September 7, 2023 at the age of 92. He was born on April 6, 1931 in Presque Isle, Maine, where he grew up on a farm among the potato fields. After high school he joined the Air Force and served honorably overseas during the Korean War.
Chuck worked in the HVAC industry in Michigan before moving to Ohio in 1969 where he purchased Geisel HVAC, which he developed into a very successful business. After retiring, he moved to Florida where he lived for several years.
He enjoyed golfing as well as the simple pleasures in life, creating memories with those he loved. He had a huge heart and always helped out members of his family who needed a helping hand, some home remodeling or a place to live.
He is preceded in death by his parents and four siblings, his wife of 58 years, Sue Rose Culberson, and his partner for the last 10 years, Carol A. Novotny. He is survived by his 4 children, Gregory (Ginger), Gil (Sherry), Van (Lori) and Andrew (Tamela), 8 grandchildren Jason, Jeremiah, Joshua, Jacob, Scott, Sam, Charlie and Malika. He had 4 Great grandchildren and a large loving family of nephews and nieces. His wit and sense of humor will be missed by those he leaves behind.
Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of Chuck’s life on Saturday September 23, 2023. A wake will start at 9am at St Joseph Catholic Church in Avon Lake, OH, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10am. Interment to follow at Holy Trinity in Avon, OH, followed by a luncheon back at St Joseph Church.
