Barbara Ann Smith

She was preceded in death by her sister Betty Lou whom died at childbirth; her father and mother, Howard and Violet Nichols of Ohio, and her husband, Arthur John Smith of Ohio.

She leaves her beloved daughter and son-in-law Gail and Samuel Porter, her two grandsons, Samuel Porter II of California and Gregory Porter of Ohio; her 3 great grandsons, Gregory and Gabriel Porter and Malachi Porter and her 3 great granddaughters, Rachel (Porter) Yu of Boston, Ivanna and Bethany Porter of Texas; and her sisters, Rita Cross, Theresa Nervo and brother Thurston Nichols.

She was born in Spencer West Virginia on July 2, 1939. Barbara (Bobby) grew up in Akron Ohio.

She started waitressing at a young age and it became her profession until her retirement in 2006.

Barb was a highly intelligent young woman, never needing to study she always aced her subjects.

The family would like to thank the aids, nurses and Cathy Dawson at Pebble Creek of Akron, Ohio for the care and compassion, dignity, respect and empathy.

There will be no services as requested by Barbara prior to her death.

She was a strong, beautiful woman that knew God and loved her family with all her heart. Rest in Paradise mommy, My world is forever changed without you here with me.
