Our mom was born on January 3rd, 1948 in Cleveland, Ohio to James Anthony Svoboda and Irene Mary (Tuza) Svoboda. She grew up in Independence, Ohio as the youngest of three siblings with both William (Billy) and James (Jimmy) preceding her in death.
While attending Kent State University, she met and married our father Lynn Calvin Feterle (deceased). Their marriage on September 9th, 1967 led to 54 years of happiness and excitement as they traveled the world with the US Air Force.
From the 19 year old wife of a shiny new lieutenant moving to Taiwan during the Vietnam War to the wife of a colonel explaining computer systems to her husband’s boss, Gaby was a force to be reckoned with. She was never afraid to tackle a new challenge and did everything including private pilot’s lessons, skiing in the Alps, leading a girl scout troop, graduating with two bachelor’s degrees, working as a computer systems analyst for BF Goodrich, and starting her own polish pottery business. She is most known for her love of crafts, small dogs, gnomes, flamingos, and her family.
Gaby is survived by her daughters Michele DeVore and Kristi Speare and their respective families Jeffrey (Michele), Connor, and Kira DeVore and Michael (Kristi) and Lindsey Speare.
We will endure a lifetime of missing you for the privilege of having loved you.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.neptunesociety.com/location/cleveland-cremation for the Feterle family.
