Winifred Jane Kinkele

Wini was born on July 16, 1937 in Englewood, NJ to parents Jacob Powell Haring and Helen M. (Heye) Haring. She grew up in Demarest and attended local schools. After graduating from high school, she worked for a short time before attending Allegheny College. Her first job was in the personnel department at RCA in New York City. She continued to work there for many years and often shared stories about her daily commute into the city. After leaving RCA, she worked for Simon & Schuster until her retirement.

She married Walter C. Kinkele on November 29, 1969 and moved to Harrington Park, NJ. They had a backyard garden and enjoyed watching the birds as well as the comings and goings of the neighborhood through their large windows.

Wini was very involved in the Community Church in Harrington Park. She served as an elder on the Consistory and was the recording secretary for over 20 years. She was active with the Women’s Guild and worked on many church bazaars.

She enjoyed traveling, rug hooking, and spending time with family. She took trips to Germany to visit her husband Walter’s family over the years. She and Walter spent many summers with family in Hilton Head, Thanksgivings in Maine, and Christmases in Houston.

She was a great game player, especially word games and loved doing the New York Times Crossword each Sunday.

Wini is survived by her two sisters-in-law, Joan Dougherty and Kathy Haring, seven nieces and nephews, and numerous great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Robert E. Haring and husband, Walter C. Kinkele.

Wini was a very caring and thoughtful person, keeping in touch with family and friends alike even if they lived far away. She rarely missed sending a card or message for every special occasion.
