Walter Scott Clawson Jr., age 76, passed away peacefully on March 20, 2025 with support from Serenity Hospice. Born on February 8, 1949, in Delaware County, PA, he was a 1967 graduate of Chichester High School before attending the University of Pittsburgh.
His tireless work ethic is catalogued in a lifetime of work journals that date back to his first job as a butcher’s assistant at The Quaker Market in Marcus Hook. He later worked as regional manager for Gino’s restaurants, and then for 25 years as a Lead Operator at the Stony Brook Regional Sewerage Authority. He was an environmentalist before it was mainstream. He took great pride in his work, which ensured cleaner water and a more sustainable planet. He avoided waste of any kind and lived by the philosophy that every small effort to conserve and protect the environment mattered.
A resident of Ewing, New Jersey for 30 years, he later fulfilled a dream of moving to Dunnellon, Florida with his beloved wife of 47 years, Ann. His passions included playing tennis, serving as a dedicated “roadie” for Ann’s many bands, competing in billiards tournaments with the Rainbow Springs Billiard Club, and he enjoyed stand-up comedy, classic films, reading nonfiction, and rooting for the Phillies and the Eagles. His love for the film The Godfather, shared with his mother, became a cherished family tradition spanning generations. If there was one thing he never turned down, it was chocolate in almost any form.
Later in life, he briefly resided in Lawrenceville before returning to Ewing, NJ, where he spent treasured time with his daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren. He learned to tolerate Milo, Sulley, and Toby.
He is survived by his daughter, Bonnie Milecki (Mark), and grandchildren, Jamison Scott and Campbell Ann; his son, Scott Clawson (Heather), and grandchildren, Molly and Grant; his siblings, Joanne DePaul (Gregory), Robert Clawson (Harriet), Jane Curran, Joseph Clawson (Rose), and William Clawson (Cheryl); and Deborah (Zachary), Jessica, Samantha and Nicole Topka. He will be deeply missed by his nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbors, and many dear friends. He was predeceased by his parents Walter Scott Clawson Sr. and Anna Christine Clawson, and his wife Ann Regina Clawson.
A Mass of Christian Burial will occur at The Church of Saint Ann in Lawrenceville, NJ on Saturday, April 5th at 1pm with a calling hour ahead of Mass, beginning at 12 Noon. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his memory to The Watershed Institute of Hopewell, NJ or a charity of choice. https://thewatershed.doubleknot.com/registration/donate.aspx?activitykey=2365779
