Pauline Hedges Davis

Pauline (“Polly”) Hedges Davis passed away on Aug 8th, 2023 in Livingston, NJ. Polly was born in the Cincinnati area of Ohio in 1934, and grew up in Wyoming, OH, graduating from Wyoming High School in 1952. She received her Bachelor's degree from Pembroke College/Brown University and went on to receive her Masters in Music Education from Harvard University.

Polly was a lifelong music educator, starting her career at The Winsor School in Boston, MA, and continuing on to the Park School in Brookline, MA, The Episcopal Academy in Merion, PA, and the Buckley School in Sherman Oaks, CA.

She was also a lifelong church organist, with many parish positions throughout her life. Her last, beloved parish was St. Michael & All Angels Episcopal Church in Studio City, CA.

She married Peter Lutz Epstein on November 28, 1997, in Studio City, California. Peter passed away on March 1, 2022, in Tarzana, California, at the age of 89. They had been married for 24 years.

Following Peter's death, Polly moved to West Orange, NJ to be closer to her daughter, grandchildren and East Coast family.

She is survived by her daughter (Amy Davis) and son-in-law (Daniel Walker), and grandchildren (William & Emma Walker); as well as her step-daughter and son-in-law (Shira & Gary Rosoff) and grandchildren (Alexander & Madison Rosoff), Step-son and daughter-in-law (Steven & Annette Epstein), and granddaughter (Kirsten Epstein).

Additionally, she is survived by her younger siblings, Faith Barbour Lee & John Carlyle Davis II, and many beloved nieces and nephews. She is pre-deceased by her older sister, Nancy Alden Bumiller.
