Kathy was born on July 11, 1950 to Sophia and Jack King in East Orange, NJ. After graduating from Bloomfield Senior High School in 1968, she went on to study Psychology at Montclair State College, and to earn a MA in Psychology from Goddard University. Kathy was always brave. During these first years of study, she hitchhiked cross country and backpacked through Europe, showing the world the adventurous soul she will always be.
Kathy was passionate about adventure, study, and support throughout her life. She was a Reiki Master/Teacher, a Feldenkrais Teacher, a shaman, and so much more. Kathy spent her career advocating for worker’s rights at Communications Workers of America. She was a dedicated friend of Bill W’s for over 40 years and was always ready to offer support and caring to others. Kathy was a practitioner of the Center for Spiritual Living North Jersey and continued to take classes and workshops within that community.
Throughout her life, Kathy loved to sing. She studied with many teachers, sang in choirs, shows, events, and open mics. She was grateful for each and every opportunity to share her voice.
Kathy was predeceased by her parents and her grandson, Slade Emmet Best. She is survived by her daughter, Veda King Blanchard; and Kathy’s siblings, Michael King, Gail Connors, Patrick King, Colleen DiFranco and their families.
In lieu of flowers or cards, please consider a donation in her name to the Center for Spiritual Living North Jersey or another organization that Kathy loved. A celebration of life will be held over Zoom on June 11th at 2pm. Email Veda at [email protected] to request the zoom link.
