Jerry proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps and was a Korean War veteran. He was the recipient of the Silver Star and Purple Heart, and he carried the honor of his military service with pride throughout his life.
Jerry is survived by his beloved wife, Lynn; his son, Matthew Sommers; and his cherished granddaughter, Maya. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and William Callahan, and his sister, Mary Jane Bruning.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation on July 25th 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. at St. Joseph Church, 606 Shore Road, Somers Point, NJ 08244, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. Interment will immediately follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Last Salute Military Funeral Honor Guard, 25 S. Prague Avenue, Egg Harbor City, NJ 08215, in Jerry’s memory.
