Claire Russell Scott passed away peacefully at home on June 8, 2019 at the age of 99 in the presence of her loving family. Predeceasing her were her parents Lily and John Anderson, her husband Alexander Scott, and her son John Scott. Surviving were her son Gregor Scott, his wife Sharon, and grandchildren Jennifer, Robert, and Alexander.
Born in New York City in January 1920 she grew up in Ridgefield NJ, graduating Leonia High School in 1937. After training at the Katherine Gibbs School she worked in a number of professional offices for the next 20 years. This included a time as a film editor in Ft. Lee NJ for RKO Pictures.
She married 1LT Alexander Scott in September 1942. During World War II she volunteered at local hospitals to assist with a nursing shortage.
In the 1950's, accompanying her husband and children, she resided for several years in the city of Zacapu, Michoacan, Mexico before returning to the United States. She then was a resident of Livingston NJ until 2012.
A proud member of the Order of the Eastern Star, she remained active through out her life, serving as Matron of the Signet Chapter in Ridgefield.
She had a love for roses, african violets, cats, dogs, friends and family. She will be remember for her stories, genorosity, and good humor.
She is loved by those that knew her.
Services will be held at the Kensico Cemetary Chapel at a later date.
