Born on October 5, 1935, on Prine Avenue in Trenton, New Jersey, Carmen was the son of Julius and Margaret Consiglio. Following his graduation from Trenton Central High School, Carmen began his career at Trenton Water Works. He later moved on to a long and fulfilling career with the New Jersey Department of Transportation. While working there, Carmen attended Mercer County Community College and earned his associate degree. He was passionate about his job and often said that it never felt like work.
Carmen will be remembered for his unwavering pride in the family he built with his beloved wife, Catherine (nee Clethero). He cherished his grandchildren, often talking about them with great affection and love. Carmen found joy in connecting with others and was known for making friends wherever he went. He was particularly fond of sharing bottles of wine with strangers at restaurants spreading his joy of life.
Carmen was preceded in death by his parents, Julius and Margaret; his wife, Catherine; his brother, Angelo; and his brother-in-law, Harold Ayers. He is survived by his sister Marie Ayers; his two sons, Joseph and his wife Marjorie, and Jule and his wife Marybeth, his seven adoring grandchildren: Melissa, Jennifer, Leanne, Michael, Marc, Joseph, and Nina; his sister-in-law, Donna Consiglio and several nieces and nephews. Carmen will be deeply missed by his friends and family worldwide.
Friends may pay their respects at St. Anthony’s Church, 626 S. Olden Avenue, Trenton, NJ 08629, on Friday, January 17, 2025, beginning at 10:00 AM, with an 11:00 AM Mass to follow. Interment will be private.
