Barbara "Bobbie" J Nelson

In loving memory of Barbara (Bobbie) Goetz-Nelson, whose life journey began in Paterson, NJ, on February 23, 1950, and peacefully concluded on August 16, 2026, after a long fight in the hospital. Barbara was a beloved daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend who brought joy and warmth to everyone she met.

Barbara was the cherished daughter of Charlotte and Robert Goetz, who predeceased her. She grew up in a home filled with love and laughter, which she carried forward into her own family life. She graduated from Waldwick High School in 1968, marking the beginning of a life devoted to family, work, and community.

Barbara dedicated 22 years of her professional life to PF Laboratories, where she excelled as a Lead Senior Sampler Quality Control/Packaging Machine Operator until her retirement in 2009. Her work ethic and dedication were admired by her colleagues, who remember her as a person of integrity and diligence.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Barbara was a pillar of her community. She was an active member and secretary of the Prospect Park Fire Department Auxiliary for over 15 years, where her commitment and compassion were felt deeply. Barbara's love for sports was evident in her avid support for the New York Yankees and her participation in the bowling league at the Fair Lawn Bowling Alley. Shopping sprees were also one of her favorites, even though she always ended up in the handbag department. She also enjoyed attending events at the Fair Lawn Senior Center, where her presence was a source of joy and inspiration.

Barbara's personal qualities were as vibrant as her accomplishments. Known for her quick wit and warm personality, she possessed a compassion and generosity that touched all who knew her. Her legacy lives on through her children, Tracy (Doug) Struyk and David Nelson Jr., and her cherished grandchildren, Alyssa Struyk and Michael Nelson. She also leaves behind her older sister, Sandy Goetz, and baby sister, Michele Schreckenstein, along with her godson, Tyler Schreckenstein, and a host of loving nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends who will miss her dearly.

Barbara's life will be celebrated in a private cremation ceremony, honoring her wishes for an intimate gathering of immediate family.

Though she has departed from this world, Barbara's spirit and the warmth she brought into our lives will remain forever in the hearts of those who loved her. Her laughter, love, and light will be profoundly missed, but her legacy of kindness and generosity will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her.
