Anton Koeberle 87, of Wayne, NJ passed away in his sleep on July 31, 2026, at his residence. He was born on January 9, 1939 in Germany, to Max and Caroline Koeberle.
He moved to the United States with his family at the tender age of 14, and while he always cherished his German roots, he was determined to show his allegiance to his new home by joining the US Army in 1956, in which he served two years. He furthered his education and became a computer operator in the 1960's, and later retired after working a long time for Best Foods, Inc.
A lover of Tennis and athletics, Anton was an accomplished tennis player and could often be seen enjoying his time either on the court or riding his bicycle in the park. He was known and esteemed by many, as he always enjoyed meeting people, and sharing a smile or friendly word.
Though he enjoyed traveling, he otherwise led a modest, quiet life—reading the newspaper, caring for his home, laughing with friends at summer cookouts, gathering with family, and sharing special moments with his wife over sushi at a favorite local restaurant.
He regularly donated to veteran's causes, such as for paralyzed vets. His good-hearted nature extended not only to humans but also to animals as well. He had a special bond with the pet cats that he and his wife adored through their years together.
Anton is survived by his longtime loving wife, Sachiko Koeberle. He also leaves behind nieces and nephews in the United States and Japan, whose lives he touched in meaningful ways.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Max and Caroline, as well as his brothers, Max and Walter Koeberle, and his sister, Herta Wollering.
The family will hold a final memorial to honor and celebrate Anton's beautiful life at a later date. Services have been entrusted to Neptune Cremation Society of NJ.
In the embrace of fond memories, Anton Koeberle will forever remain in our hearts. May he rest in peace, knowing that his legacy of many friendships will endure through those he touched in his lifetime.
