Bill was born on April 14, 1941, in Cleveland, Ohio, and moved to Florida in 1981. His character was defined by confidence, integrity, adventure, knowledge, and patriotism. Being a gregarious and generous man, he was always quick to share a smile, a story, and invaluable life lessons with the numerous people he met daily.
Bill was a talented entrepreneur and tradesman, building several successful businesses in machinery, carpentry, and truck driving and most recently worked as a school bus driver. His outgoing personality and passion for helping others led him to be actively involved in many organizations including Civil Air Patrol, Boy Scouts of America, the Old School Lutz House, the Lutz and Land O’ Lakes Woman’s Club, and even a spirited race to be the Guv’na of Lutz. As an avid outdoorsman, he loved camping in State and County Parks and was a vibrant presence at many community events in Lakeshore Villas. Bill also had a love for travel, visiting forty-nine of the fifty United States. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, many wonderful memories, and a heart full of love for his family and friends.
In addition to his beloved wife, Diane, Bill is survived by his children, Brian Westcott and his wife, Katrina (Greenville, NC), Carl Westcott and his partner, Jean Johnson (Lillington, NC), William H. Westcott Jr. (Billy) and his wife Yvette, (Wesley Chapel, FL), Janette Lackore and her husband, Everett Peter (Weston, FL) and Shawntai R. Taliercio and her husband, Louis V., (Wesley Chapel, FL). He is also survived by his stepdaughter, Tasha St. Pierre and her husband, Tommy (Tampa, FL). Bill leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, William Alexander Westcott, Nicholas Westcott, Cameron Westcott, Caden McCoy, Brandon Haynes and his wife, Krystal, Ashley Lackore, Derrick Lackore, Emily St. Pierre, Joshua Fraser, and Christopher Fraser, as well as beloved great grandchildren, Mia and Mason Haynes. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Bonnie Westcott, brothers-in-law, David Bradford and Dean Bradford, and Karen McVicker, the mother of Brian and Carl, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and dear friends.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Henry J. Westcott and Eleanor Doherty, father and mother-in-law Fuessel V. Bradford and Caroline, brothers, Richard L. Westcott and David F. Westcott, his treasured children, Michael A. Westcott and Cherise M. Fraser, along with their mother, Marlyn Westcott.
Bill will be forever loved and cherished by his family and friends, near and far.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at Garden of Memories, 4207 E. Lake Ave., Tampa, FL, 33610, to share memories and honor Bill’s life. The memorial service will begin at 11:00 AM, followed by his interment and a Celebration of Life.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Bill’s memory to The Old Lutz School House at 16802 San Rio Circle, Lutz FL 33549, where he found joy in giving back to the community.
