

William Walter McDonald (Billy), 93, of Redington Shores, Florida, passed away on July 28, 2025. A native of Chattahoochee, Fl., he was a graduate of Chattahoochee High School and attended Florida State University, where he proudly became a drum major with the Marching Chiefs Band. He was a veteran having served in the United States Navy prior to completing his BA in Accounting at University of Florida. Billy spent most of his career with IBM, retiring in 1987 in Redington Shores where he and his life partner, Robert Bernardo made their home.
In retirement, Billy was a volunteer and board member for numerous organizations in the St. Petersburg area. He loved his many friends and family members, spending time with neighbors, gardening and being with his feline fur babies of which he adored. Billy and Robert loved entertaining in their beautiful home and doted upon their numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was famous for his personal holiday and birthday cards that he lovingly sent to friends and family for decades. He stayed fit and healthy, spending countless hours in the gym in exercise classes and later his yoga practice.
Billy was predeceased by his partner, Robert Bernardo, his parents Walter and Agnes McDonald, sister Joyce and brother Jimmy as well as nephews Ike and John. He is survived by his sister Betty Carter, nieces Kathy, Linda, Beth, Lori, Kelly, Kate and Elizabeth. Nephews, James and Andy as well has several great and great great nieces and nephews and many cousins.
We have all lost a piece of our hearts.
