

Born on April 22, 1939, in Holden, Massachusetts, Bill was the son of William J. Flanagan and Louise Flanagan (Healey). He grew up in a close-knit family and carried the values of loyalty, warmth and humor throughout his life.
Bill served proudly in the United States Air Force as a Radio Intercept Operator stationed in Alaska. His service to his country was marked by dedication and honor, culminating in an honorable discharge.
Following his military service, Bill built a distinguished career in manufacturing operations. He began as a machine shop foreman at International Paper Box Machine Company in Nashua, New Hampshire. His leadership and expertise led him to serve as Operations Manager at Acufex in Taunton, Massachusetts, and later as Operations Manager and Executive Vice President at Polyvac in Manchester, New Hampshire. Throughout his professional journey, Bill was known for his strong work ethic and steady guidance.
Bill shared 57 loving years of marriage with his wife Christine M. Flanagan (Cayre), who preceded him in death. Together they raised three children: William E. Flanagan of Laconia, New Hampshire; Kathleen M. Berrini of Laconia, New Hampshire; and James M. Flanagan of Merrimack, New Hampshire. Bill’s legacy continues through his ten grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
He is also remembered by his wife and companion Mary Jo Carmichael of Ocala, Florida, who he loved dearly; sister Elizabeth “Betty” Reilly; brother-in-law Kenneth Reilly; brother-in-law Alan "Gus" Gustafson, daughter-in-law Cindy Flanagan and his chief cribbage opponent and daughter-in-law Anne-Marie Flanagan. He was predeceased by his sister Joyce Gustafson (Flanagan), brother John “Jack” Flanagan, and brother Francis “Ted” Flanagan.
Bill found joy in travel, golf, playing cards, and spending time with friends and family. His wit and warmth made him a cherished presence among those who knew him. A man of faith, he attended services at St. Joseph’s Church in Zephyrhills, Florida, and Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Ocala, Florida.
