

CORBOY, Thomas Stone of St. Petersburg, Florida, died August 16, 2026 peacefully at home at the age of 87. Thomas was born and raised in Erie, PA. His father, James T. Corboy, was a noted antique dealer specializing in early Pennsylvania Dutch furniture and artifacts. Mother, Dorothy (Schluraff) Corboy was the Society Editor of the Erie newspaper.
After graduating McDowell High School, Tom attended the US Naval Academy. Following graduation in 1961 he became a Naval Aviator, flying fighters from aircraft carriers for a total of twelve years before joining American Airlines and flying commercially for twenty-five years.
Tom was married to the former Martha Libby of Annapolis shortly after graduation. Their children are Cristyn (Ken) Rollins, of Huntertown, IN, and Libby (Nino) Gould of Poway, CA.
Children of Tom’s marriage to Linda FitzGerald of Rhode Island are Keely (Bernie) Marczyk of Annapolis, MD, and Todd Corboy of San Francisco, CA.
Following Linda’s death from Leukemia, Tom and Barbara (DiNenna) Corboy were married for twenty-three years before Barbara succumbed to Alzheimer’s. Tom’s step-children are Charles (Vicky) DiNenna of Colonial Beach, VA, Anthony (Paula) DiNenna of Annapolis, MD, and Tina (Mick) Jernigan of St Petersburg, FL.
In retirement Tom maintained residences in Annapolis and St Petersburg where he was active with the Academy of Senior Professionals at Eckerd College and where he met his wife, Elizabeth (McGee, Dolinsky) Corboy. Bette, a recent widow, and Tom, a widower, married and embarked on a new chapter in their lives in 2023.
After messing around on small boats on Lake Erie as a child and sailing on San Diego Bay while in the Navy, Tom was a forty-year member of Annapolis Yacht Club where he raced a sailboat on summer Wednesday nights and Frostbite races during winter months. He chaired the AYC Cruise Committee and spent many extended weekends cruising the Chesapeake Bay on his power boat.
In addition to his wife, children and step-children, Tom is survived by his siblings Cathryn Griffith (Curtiss Reed) of Boston, MA, and James (Suzanne) Corboy of Castle Rock, CO; seven grandchildren - Jacob Rollins, Aubrey (Zach) Hall, Trevor Gould, Leah Marczyk, Claire Marczyk, Thomas Marczyk and Stella Marczyk; two great-grandchildren - Joanna and Nora Hall; nieces and nephews - Shannon (Jeff) Botos, James "Chip" (Lisa) Corboy, and Sarah Griffith (Ray Lemieux); Bette's stepdaughter Denise Dolinsky; as well as many other extended family members and countless friends. All filled his life with great joy.
He was fond of paraphrasing the lyrics from a Jimmy Buffet song, “…some of it tragic, most of it magic, I’ve had a good life all the way.”
A funeral will be held at St. John Neumann Catholic Church in Annapolis, MD on Wednesday, September 30th at 10:30am with a Celebration of Life immediately following at Annapolis Yacht Club. All family and friends are invited to attend. There will be private inurnments in the following days at USNA Columbarium and Lakemont Memorial Gardens.
