

Sally Wood Sutton, age 97, passed away peacefully on June 24, 2026, at home with her family, and leaves behind a legacy of unwavering faith, devoted service, and deep love for her Savior Jesus Christ, family and community.
Lifelong member of the Episcopal Church, Sally was a faithful member of St. John the Divine, where her quiet dedication and devoted heart found great joy in serving on the Altar Guild and in Daughters of the King.
She attended Bible study groups and Prayer Retreats for many years, always seeking to deepen her relationship with God while encouraging others in their faith journey.
She graduated from Antioch College, at the top of her class in 1951. Professionally, Sally worked as an elementary teacher briefly than worked as Computer Programmer and then Computer Systems Analyst for the Personnel Dept. of the Census Bureau.
She had a lifelong appreciation for nature, bird watching, and was an avid reader and just as avid writer, journaling and sending greeting cards of all kinds to encourage friends and family. Other special interests of study were organizing beautiful collections and puzzles of all kinds keeping her mind sharp.
Sally had three children, daughter Rachel Ayers, son David (Cynthia) Sutton, and Stephen Sutton (deceased). She is lovingly remembered by all her family, including: sister Mary Wood McDavit, granddaughters Christen Elgin, Elaine Sutton-Messer (Cody Messer) and grandson Henry Thomas Ayers, five great-grandchildren Audrey, Alisha, Amber (Jared), Andrew and Adam; twelve great-great-grandchildren. Her memory will remain a blessing to all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A Celebration of Life Service followed by a light lunch will be held at St. John the Divine Episcopal Church in Sun City Center, FL on July 17th, 2026 at 11 am.
In lieu of flowers, her wish is that donations be made to St John the Divine Episcopal Church, 1015 E. Del Webb Blvd, Sun City Center, FL 33573.
